Me and my sister at Labor or Love race |
I'm Jennifer. I am new to running and only just completed my first 5 mile race on Labor Day 2010. I discovered that I love running, and I love that it provides a common hobby for my sister and I to spend time together.
Unfortunately, shortly after my first race, I broke my ankle. I've been unable to run for 9 weeks, but I just received the go from my doctor that I can run again. So I have started training for the Cleveland Marathon in 2011. This is something that my sister and I want to accomplish together. Though she has always been a runner, this will be her first marathon, too.
As I started planning my training and reading books, my boss told me about Team In Training with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The company I work for has always been very supportive of LLS because my boss's son, Mikey, is a leukemia survivor. I could not think of a better way to accomplish my goal of finishing a marathon than to train and raise funds to stop blood cancers.
With the support of my family, co-workers, and LLS, I know that I will complete the Cleveland Marathon and others like Mikey will benefit from my endeavor.
